Open Training Courses
AWPTI currently offers a number of open training courses, this means that anyone can book in you don’t have to be part of an organisation with multiple attendees. All course are provided remotely via Zoom.
Investigating Workplace Misconduct (2 day course) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – More details
Recommended for HR professionals and managers involved in the investigation of complaints/incidents such as bullying, harassment, sexual harassment and discrimination and other forms of misconduct. This is a highly interactive course where participants work through an actual investigation from the receipt of the complaint, interviewing parties, drafting allegations and making finding and recommendations.
Conducting Workplace Investigations (1 day course) – More details
A condensed version of the 2 day course, recommended for HR professionals and managers involved in the investigation of misconduct or complaints. Like the 2 day course this is a highly interactive course where participants work through an actual investigation from the receipt of the complaint, interviewing parties, drafting allegations and making finding and recommendations however there is less interviewing practice time.
Note we will ruin this course with limited number even just one person. Also this course can be broken down into 2 x 3 hours sessions to suit your timetable.
Investigating Workplace Sexual Harassment (2 day course)
Similar to Investigating Workplace Misconduct, this course focuses on sexual harassment in the workplace.
The ‘Management Essentials’ Reasonable Management Action Training program designed to assist managers to deal with employment related issues, it comprises of three sections;
- Reasonable management Action (RMA).
- Performance Management to avoid complaints.
- Basic Dispute resolution
- Dealing with misconduct and complaint handling for managers,
This training is recommended for all managers/team leaders/supervisors to help minimise costly and time consuming complaints against managers
Short sessions – Lunch and Learn
The Management Essentials Program is available is separate 90 minute to 2 hour sessions

Basic Dispute Resolution
Basic Complaint Handling.
The training is conducted by Phil O’Brien a highly qualified and experienced workplace investigator as a result of having to investigate a number of complaints against managers that had their origins in complaints made to a manager where no action is taken. The training is not theory based, it is based on actually complaints and issues experience by managers. and designed to ensure that if a complaint is made that the manager acted in the appropriate manner.
